Welcome to the Australian Embassy in Warsaw
The Embassies of Australia and New Zealand, with support from the Warsaw Garrison, will hold an ANZAC Day Ceremony at 11.45 AM on Tuesday 25 April at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw. If you would like to attend this ceremony, please be in place at the Tomb by 11:35 AM.
After the ceremony, Australians and other guests are invited to attend the Australian Embassy for a cup of tea and cake. Due to security protocols, formal invitations are required to attend this reception and you will not be able to enter the Embassy without your official invitation. If you would like to attend the reception at the Australian Embassy after the ceremony, please send your details including your passport number or other photo ID number, no later than 21 April 2017, to email@example.com so that your official invitation can be arranged.
In Prague, the ANZAC Day ceremony will be held on Sunday 23 April at the Commonwealth War Graves located at the northern end of Olsanske Hrbitovy cemetery, Vinohradska 153, Praha 3 – Zizkov and will commence at 11.00 am.
This year marks 102 years since Australian troops landed on the shores of Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. More than 8,700 lost their lives during the campaign, and more than 2,000 were killed or wounded on the first day of fighting. The Centenary of Anzac 2014 to 2018 is Australia’s most important period of national commemoration.
Marking 100 years since our countries’ involvement in the First World War, the Anzac Centenary is a time to honour the service and sacrifice of our original ANZACs, and the generations of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women who have defended our values and freedoms, in wars, conflicts and peace operations throughout a Century of Service.
Further information about Anzac Day and the Anzac Centenary can be found on the Anzac Centenary website at www.anzaccentenary.gov.au
